How We Review Supplements
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Most supplements sold online are promoted with dramatic stories, testimonials that can't be checked and "official websites" that are really resellers. Our reviews are meant to cut through that. Here is exactly how we put each in-depth review together.
1. We find the real seller
We follow the product's buy link to the seller's own order page and note who handles checkout (for example ClickBank or BuyGoods). Search results are often full of look-alike "official" sites; we name the ones we find so readers can avoid them. If we can't reach the seller's page, we say so in the review and mark which details come from other sources.
2. We read the full label — not just the ad
We record every ingredient and amount from the supplement facts label. When the sales page highlights a handful of ingredients but the label lists many more, or when amounts are hidden inside a "proprietary blend", we point that out. If no label is published at all, the review says so clearly.
3. We compare ingredients and doses with research
For each key ingredient we look at what published studies have tested, at what dose and in whom. We show the studied dose next to what the product provides when that information is available, and we separate strong human evidence from animal, test-tube or traditional-use claims.
4. We check safety
Every review includes side effects, allergens and medicine interactions — for example 5-HTP with antidepressants, senna in "slimming" teas, caffeine sources, or ingredients that affect blood pressure or blood sugar — along with who should avoid the product or speak to a doctor first.
5. We check claims against reality
We explain the story the ad tells (a "parasite", a "Nobel Prize trigger", a "toxin") and whether it is supported by medical evidence. We don't repeat weight-loss numbers or before-and-after stories as if they were typical results.
6. We verify price, billing and guarantee
We record package prices, shipping costs, whether billing is one-time or a subscription, and the exact length and conditions of the money-back guarantee, as shown on the official order page on the review date. Prices can change, so each review shows the date we checked.
7. We give an honest verdict
Each review ends with pros, cons and realistic expectations. Where cheaper or better-proven options exist — a hearing test, a fiber powder, plain green tea, a visit to the dentist — we say so, even though we earn nothing from those suggestions.
How we rate products
Every full review ends with a MediPicker rating from 1 to 5. It reflects four things, weighed together:
- Evidence: does published research support the product's main claim, at the doses it actually provides?
- Transparency: does the seller publish the full ingredient label with amounts?
- Safety: are there ingredients with known side effects or medicine interactions?
- Value and terms: price per day, one-time versus recurring billing, and how fair the refund conditions are.
What the scores mean: 4.5–5 excellent; 3.5–4 good, with real evidence behind it; 2.5–3 average, with some plausible ingredients but weak doses or overstated claims; 1.5–2 weak or poor; 1 not recommended, because the formula doesn't match the claim, the ingredients are hidden, or the marketing is misleading or unsafe. Ratings are our editorial judgement, not customer reviews, and sellers can't pay to change them. When a label, price or guarantee changes, we update the review and its rating together.
What our reviews are not
- Not medical advice. We are a research and editorial team, not doctors. Always talk to a health professional before starting a supplement.
- Not hands-on lab testing. We don't test products in a laboratory; we analyse labels, sellers' information and published research.
- Not paid placements. Sellers cannot pay for a review, a better verdict or a higher position on our site.
Updates and corrections
We revisit reviews when labels, prices or guarantees change and update the date shown on the page. If you spot something outdated or wrong, email info@medipicker.com and we will check it.
